Harrah’s Casino is asking World Series Of Poker winners to make a 1% donation of their winnings to Harrah’s official community partner. If WSOP winners decide to make a contribution, Harrah’s will automatically forward it to the Nevada Cancer Institute, a cancer fighting organization.
To make a donation, players need to inform the payout clerk when they pick-up their winnings and 1% will automatically be taken from their payout. “Poker players are among the most generous and charity-conscious people on the planet,” said a Harrah’s statement. “They continually use the game of poker to help raise awareness and funds for many worthy causes throughout the calendar year. The WSOP will again use its platform in 2010 to bolster their efforts.” The 2010 WSOP will feature a celebrity tournament to raise money for charity.
