This week, Senator Jeff Schoenberg’s SB3497 bill which allows the sale of state lottery tickets over the internet made further progress by passing the state Senate Executive Committee stage.
If it is passed in its current form, the state’s Powerball lottery game could join others, such as the multi-state Mega-Millions lottery, in an online sales pilot program.
In its original version, Schoeberg envisaged that any increase in state revenues generated by his bill should go for state debt repayment. However, this has been amended, so now it prescribes that such revenues should be directed at education and capital programs.
