UK Poker Pro Joins PokerStars Poker Room

One of the UK’s most successful professional poker players, Julian Thew,
has now joined PokerStars. PokerStars is one of the top online poker rooms
and they are known for sponsoring some of the top poker professionals.
Julian was formerly sponsored by William Hill which cators primarily to
european players, while PokerStars is the largest poker room on the Internet.

Thew is ranked #13 in the European poker rankings with over $2.5 million in
prize money. He won the EPT Baden IV with a purse of roughly €670,000. As a
member of the PokerStars team, he joins some of the best professional poker
players including Barry Greenstein, Daniel Negreanu, and Greg Raymer.

Julian is quoted as saying, “I’m thrilled to have been offered a spot on
Team PokerStars Pro roster, and I look forward to promoting the brand on
my travels throughout the year.” PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, and other
US online poker rooms have been recruiting more UK based players over
the past year including James Akenhead and Chris Moorman.

It has been over 10 years since the No Limit Holdem main event at the
WSOP has had a winner from the UK. With all of the fresh new faces
from the UK being sponsored by the top online poker rooms, it won’t
be too long until we see UK players winning top US-based poker events.
