The UK government has issued a statement confirming rumours that the White List of approved online casinos will not review or add any new online casinos until 2010.
UK-based gambling interests have complained that foreign companies on the White List are given far more advantages than they are. The government has decided to halt any new additions to the list and figure out how to level the playing field. Speculation is that they may add an additional tax on casinos outside of the UK.
The UK White List is comprised of online casinos that have met regulatory checks and standards, both for the operator and the licensing authority. Any online casino that is a part of the White List is considered a responsible operator by the online gaming community, and therefore a place on the list is highly sought after.
