The Departed: Golden Casino Leaves US Casino Market

Golden Casino has advised it’s players and advertisers that it will be departing from the US market effective on December 1st, which is the same day that the UIGEA is to be implemented and banks will cease to process online gambling transactions.

Golden Casino uses the Vegas Technology casino software, and it is believed that the casino was set-up by the Golden Palace group in order to access the US market after the UIGEA was approved by Congress in 2006. Golden Palace was using the Playtech casino software in 2006 when the legislation was passed, and Playtech immediately pulled out of the US market which prevented them from accepting US players.

As of December 1st, Golden Casino will no longer be accepting new players from the US, but their is no mention of what will happen to existing US players. This is likely connected to the implementation of the UIGEA but their have also been recent reports that payment processors connected to Golden Casino have been subject to US DOJ enforcement actions. It is advised that US players should withdraw any balance within their account that they don’t plan on playing within the casino.
