Harrah’s Entertainment, one of the largest gambling operators in the United States, has begun advertising their online gaming sites on TV and within US newspapers. Once opposed to online gambling, they have changed their stance in recent months. They already launched an online casino that cators to players outside of the United States, but they are now offering free play sites to US citizens. They want to sign-up US citizens to their free play sites in order to solicit them once the laws change and makes it legal to gamble online in America.

Harrah’s already placed an ad in USA Today, a national newspaper in the United States, and they’ve begun promoting their online poker room on the ESPN sports channel. You can expect that they will continue to aggressively promote online gambling within the US media, now that it looks like online gambling is sure to be legal sometime in 2011.

While many now support online gambling within the United States, some analysts are beginning to wonder if the legal version of online gambling in the US will be good for players and advertisers. The benefit of legalisation would be the safeguards that the government would put in place to protect against online gambling addiction, casino fraud, and other social issues.

Unfortunately, the US government is developing legislation with too many amendments and regulations that might make it impossible for offshore operators to enter the US market. It looks as if the US is going to continue to protect their gambling interests by adding amendments that allow US gambling operators to accept online bets while restricting many or all of the offshore operators from acquiring a license within the United States.

The online casinos are known for offering extravagant bonuses, comps, promotions, and they pay out hefty fees to their advertisers. The Las Vegas casinos that opened online casinos in the past that catored to European players were unwilling to offer the same level of casino promotions to their players, and they paid much less for advertising. The US government will heavily tax the online gambling industry and if the Las Vegas casinos are given the monopoly over the US market, players and advertisers should expect alot less than what they are getting now.
