The US Department of Justice recently seized funds from online poker sites and its processors. They
setup a fake processor and allowed US citizens to make deposits through their fake processor in
order to gather enough evidence against other processors and gambling sites for an indictment.

The US government continues to crack down on online gambling because they are able to seize huge
sums of money that they can use for their own government activities. Unfortunately, a sizable
portion of the money seized is likely that of US players that made a casino deposit, or
had actually won money at the online gambling site and they were waiting to receive the funds.

While the government continues to parade around as if they did a service for the American people,
the truth is that the US government has spent too much time trying to restrict online gambling
in order to seize money to buy government toys that they can use to seize funds elsewhere.

Americans continue to feel the crush of a financial crisis in the country, and to add insult
to injury, the US government continues to seize the funds of these citizens that want to
escape from the dim reality of the US economy, and entertain themselves by gambling online.

The credibility of the US government is at risk. They talk about freedom and liberty for people
in countries with government oppression, while they continue to crackdown on online gambling.

Nevada is the one state in the US that is primarily driven by the gambling industry. The state
relies on revenue from gambling establishments to boost the economy. Las Vegas is the gambling
capital of the country, and most of the US land-based gambling takes place within Las Vegas.

While gambling is important to the state, tourism is equally important. But, their would be
little tourism if the state did not have a variety of casinos for tourists to enjoy. Gambling
plays such a major role in Nevada, that its no surprise that Nevada has now become the first
state within the United States to legalize online gambling. According to news reports,
Governor Brian Sandoval has signed the interactive gaming bill into law which makes
online gambling legal on a state level, while it still remains unregulated on the federal level.

Now that an interactive gaming bill has been signed into law, the casinos in Las Vegas
need to put pressure on the federal government to legalize and regulate the online
gambling industry on a federal level. While numerous Las Vegas casinos have attempted
to enter the online gambling market and failed, Harrah’s Entertainment is the only
Nevada company to successfully launch and profit from online gambling operations
licensed within the UK and Europe. As of right now, Nevada will only be able to
licence new online gambling operators for online gambling within the state.
