Years ago, people from developing countries had to fly into Las Vegas or other major gambling destinations in order to play their favorite casino games. Now it seems that almost every country in the world has at least one casino that is owned by the government or licensed and taxed by the governing body. or licensed by the government.

The South American nation of Guyana just legalized casino gambling and they’ve now opened their first casino. Guyana is the third smallest country on the continent of South America, and the initiative to legalize casino gambling within Guyana was brought on by the desire of legislators to make the country tourist friendly. The strange thing about the casino is that it is only for tourists. Locals are not allowed into the casino unless they are checked in as guests of the casino hotel. This is part of the new law that is implemented to protect locals from threat of gambling addiction.

Unfortunately, it will be difficult to bring in customers to the casino when the country only receives 300,000 tourists per year, with a bulk of the visitors coming to see family or in the country on business. The casino will need to launch some extra special promotions to draw in customers from neighboring countries or tourists that are visiting the country with an interest in casino gambling.
