Sports Leagues Worried Over UK Casino Plans

British sports leagues have asked the government to quickly address the concerns caused by the potential movement of some of the most influencial online casinos within the UK over to Gibraltar. The sports leagues are worried that if these UK casinos are outside of the United Kingdom’s jurisdiction that they will no longer be forced to provide betting patterns and other important data to the government in order to prevent match-fixing, gambling corruption, and other illegal activities.

William Hill and some of the other major players within the UK are looking to escape the heavy tax burden by moving their casino and sportsbook operations to a less taxing territory. The English Football Association says it was able to gather enough information to suspend four players for a year because of cooperation with the UK government. Their is speculation in the UK that offshore operators are less inclined to help the UK sports leagues fight corruption, match fixing, and other sports gambling issues.
