PokerStars is still the #1 ranked online poker room for US players, and they’ve
continued to hold onto that position without any major competition. The closest
competitor for US poker players is Full Tilt Poker and they continue to develop
new games, and grow in popularity. Unfortunately, they’re not growing fast enough.
It is estimated that PokerStars averages around 28,000 real players online at any
given time, with a maximum of 45,000 players sitting at the poker tables. Full Tilt
Poker has roughly 17,000 players in their poker room at any given time. Unfortunately,
Full Tilt’s maximum is around 28,000 players, which is the current average for PokerStars.
Compare these number to Party Poker and other poker rooms that no longer accept US players,
and you’ll see why they are both way ahead of the pack. Some will say that the quality of
the poker rooms set them apart from the rest, but the huge advantage is that they are
brave enough to remain in the US market and the US market is ripe with new poker players.
Also, it should be noted that PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker have signed on many
professional poker players that promote the poker rooms at live tournament events,
in their respective blogs, and through other promotions related to the poker rooms.
