PayPal withdrew from the online gambling market a few years ago after the US government began to crackdown on the industry. It appears that they now have decided to slowly move back into the market within jurisdictions that have clearly legalised online gambling.
Right now, PayPal is focused on offering online gambling transactions to citizens of the United Kingdom, but only at the best online casinos in the UK. In the beginning, Ladbrokes and 32 Red were the first online casinos to accept PayPal transactions. It has now been revealed that they’ve added Virgin Casino to the short list of operators that can now process gambling transactions.
PayPal was established in 1999 and it has become one of the largest payment and money transfer providers on the Internet. Rumor is that PayPal plans to re-enter the US market once legislation is in place that will legalise online gambling. It may be tough for them to re-enter the market because US gamblers will never forget how PayPal once abandoned the gaming market.
