The Canadian province of Ontario will launch their first online casino in 2012. The new casino will be run by the Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation. Canadian law allows provincial governments to set-up online casinos, but does not allow foreign operators to acquire a gaming license.

“Across Canada and around the world, online commerce is part of our everyday lives and OLG is excited to start the consultation process for online gaming and growing its marketplace in the future,” said Paul Godfrey, Chairman for the OLG. “The OLG’s Internet gaming programme will stress responsible gaming while providing an enjoyable experience for Ontario players.” The provincial government on Ontario is taking its time to launch an online casino that will offer a superior gaming experience while also protecting the privacy and personal information of it’s players. Ontario has learned a lot from British Colombia’s attempt to quickly launch an online casino. They’ve decided to take their time and they’ve given themselves roughly 2 years.
