US Representative, Ron Paul of Texas has always supported a regulated online gambling industry in the US. At the CPAC convention, conservatives casted their vote for the next President of the United States and they overwhelmingly picked Ron Paul as their candidate. He is now the betting favorite to win the Republican Primary for President in 2012 based on the CPAC straw poll.

In the CPAC straw poll, Ron Paul received 31% of the votes from conservative Republicans. “Congressman Paul is committed to bringing the conservative movement back to its traditional platform of limited government, balanced budgets. and a foreign policy of non-intervention,” said Jesse Benton, Spokesman for Paul. His stance on online gambling and other key issues has made him an attractive candidate among Republicans and even among some liberal Democrats.

Ron Paul has been one of only a few Republicans to cross party lines to support Representative Barney Frank’s new legislation that would effectively overturn the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act in the US. Their is a growing concern regarding the UIGEA by members of Congress, the financial institutions, and from the general public. Ron Paul is concerned with the amount of revenue that is leaving the country because the US government has failed to regulate a rapidly growing industry. Millions of Americans are gambling online without any government protection or guarantee that their personal information is safe, or they’ll be paid their winnings.
