Almost every notable cause has a mascot, champion, or spokesperson that
stands out as the icon of the industry. Unfortunately, the online gambling
industry has nobody that really stands out and fights for the people.
Over the years, the online gambling industry has failed to come together
with one central voice to respond to criticism by governments,
anti-gambling organizations, and other misguided entities.
The online gambling industry has always taken the wait and see approach,
and attempted to adapt to whatever happens. Unfortunately, this routine
has led to where we are today with unregulated online casino gambling
in some of the richest countries in the world. Governments continuing
to protect their gaming monopolies by spreading lies about how online
gambling is bad for its citizens and banning all online gaming activities.
The porn industry had Larry Flynt who stood up for the right to publish
porn in magazines. Some may disagree with pornography, but his actions
helped the porn industry, and it even helped people outside of the
industry by giving them the freedom to choose without the government
telling the people what they could look at and what they couldn’t.
Yes, their are organizations that attempt to stand up for player rights, but
their is not one central voice that stands up and fights back against the
anti-gambling crusaders. The only real voice of the industry is Barney Frank,
a member of the US Congress that continues to push for the regulation of the
online gambling industry within the United States. Their needs to be an
industry insider, and not a politician, that represents the industry
when anti-gambling individuals and organizations begin spreading
falsehoods about the industry to government officials and news sources.
