Lately, many Canadians have been voicing their opinions regarding online gambling within the country. With many of the provinces working toward legalizing the activity for their citizens, their has been alot of discussion regarding the legality of the activity by Canadians. Online gambling advocates in Canada have concluded that online gambling is not illegal in Canada, but the online casinos within Canada that haven’t been licensed by a provincial government would be operating illegally and residents would be restricted from gambling at any illegal casino within the country.
The Kahnawake Gaming Commission has granted licenses to a number of MicroGaming online casinos, but the legality of offering licenses within the Kahnawake Territory is confusing due to Canadian laws when it comes to territories that are owned by the native indian tribes. Canadian politicians seems to concerned over the online gambling revenue that is leaving the country, but they seem to be unaware that alot of the gaming revenue is going into the Kahnawake Territory.
While online gambling might not be illegal within Canada, politicians still need to sort through the laws and come up with legislation that will legalise and regulate online gambling in the country.
