Online Casinos Preparing To Re-Enter US Market

The online casinos are positioning themselves to re-enter the U.S. market
once the new legislation has been passed within the U.S. Congress. They aren’t
getting in too big of a hurry, because the online casinos have learned from past
experience to never anticipate what the U.S. government’s next move will be.

It has been suggested that William Hill and Ladbrokes are moving offshore
in anticipation of legalized online gambling within the United States, and
PayPal, an online payment processor, has already changed their policy to
begin processing gambling transactions from everywhere except the U.S.

Behind the scenes, other online casinos are in discussions with their
software providers as well as internal discussions on what steps should
be taken now to put them in a better position when online casinos are
legal within the United States. It is almost certain that any online
casino that accepts U.S. bets legally will need to meet certain standards
and purchase a license from the federal government for a hefty price.

With the prospect of legal online casinos within the United States in
2010 or possibly 2011, most online casino operators are trying their
best to do whatever it takes to stay on the good side of the U.S.
government. THe hope is that any online casino that respects the
current laws within the U.S., will have a better chance of securing
a license to operate an online casino in the U.S. when it becomes legal.

Unfortunately, this probably won’t be the case and that is why the
online casinos have begun investing millions of dollars to lobby
Washington for legalized online casino gambling. The U.S. government
will most likely award licenses to prominent land-based casino owners
in the United States, while allowing a few offshore operators in as well.
