North Americans Really Love Online Gambling

People in North America really love to gamble online. The United States and Canada
are two of the top countries when it comes to the number of citizens that are gambling
at online casinos. A survey conducted by Ipsos Reid interviewed over 1,000 Americans
and 1,000 Canadians and found that 49% were in favor of online gambling regulation and
55% of the Canadian respondents were in the favor of government regulation.

The survey has also concluded that more North Americans consider online gambling as a
legal form of entertainment and this belief continues to rise even while the US government
continues to crack down on financial transactions that relate to the online gambling industry.
Paul Lauzon, Senior Director of Ipsos Reid’s Lottery and Gaming Group, said of the results:
“The idea of Internet gambling appears to be gaining acceptance in North America, with more
people expressing an interest to see it legalised with proper regulation.” Governments continue
to work against the interests of online gambling operators by restricting access to gambling sites while their own citizens continue to embrace online gambling as a form of entertainment.
