No Online Gambling at CPAC 2010

CPAC 2010 will feature Glen Beck as the featured speaker this year. CPAC is
an annual convention for conservative activitists that first started in 1973.
CPAC is sponsored by the American Conservatives Union and other conservative
organizations. It’s typically a political convention for conservative Republicans.

Their are some good conservative ideas, opinions, and plans that come out of the
yearly conference, but conservatives tend to have an anti-gambling stance. Some
of the most prominent Republican congressmen worked hard to ban online gambling,
and some of these same Republicans were architects of the UIGEA legislation.

While conservatives tend to push for limited government, they also tend to
push for restrictions against online gambling and other issues on moral
grounds. Experts speculate that online gambling won’t be much of a topic
at this year’s CPAC, but as the tide turns for the online gambling industry,
it would be nice to see conservatives endorsing online gambling initiatives.
