The Carson Nugget Casino in Carson City, Nevada is putting its unique gold collection up for sale. It plans to sell 170 unique items made purely of gold with an estimated value of $5 million. They received a bid of $1.1 million for the gold, but decided to put it up for sale at a public auction.
Steve Neighbors, the president of Carson Nugget Casino, has stated that visitors are losing interest in the precious stones. With the economic crisis in the US and the dip in revenue at casinos in Las Vegas, the casino may be looking for ways to bring in additional revenue outside of the casino. The casino will accept a minimum bid of $1.1 million for the gold collection and it will be up for auction until the middle of September. The collection was featured in the casino since the 1950s, but their are so many attractions in Nevada that it doesn’t bring in customers anymore.
