Marvel and Cryptologic In Legal Online Casino Battle

The battle continues as Marvel Comics and Cryptologic take their problems to court. For the past five years, Marvel Comics and Cryptologic, the software provider for InterCasino, had an exceptional working relationship. Cryptologic has begun arbitration proceedings against Marvel Comics, alleging that the company breached their exclusive licensing agreement. Cryptologic owns the exclusive licensing rights to the Marvel Comic brand until 2013 for use as branding within their online casinos. The branding was used to create video slot games that were based on various superheroes from Marvel’s comic books and movies based on the comic books.

Cryptologic has launched numerous Marvel inspired video slot games. You’ll find Spiderman, Blade, The Hulk, Daredevil, Thor, and many other popular comic book characters. The friction between these two companies began when Marvel broke their agreement by signing a similar agreement with Cryptologic’s major competitor, Playtech, another popular software provider.

Cryptologic released a statement that they had attempted to resolve the problem outside of legal channels, but Marvel has refused to cooperate. It seems that legal action was a last resort.
