Legal issues in the online gambling world have taken a strange turn as the state of Kentucky
is preparing to sue Pocket Kings LTD, the company that operates Full Tilt Poker and other
popular gambling sites. The government is attempting to recover losses incurred by Kentuckians.
This new case is using an obscure law that seeks to recover gambling losses. It has attracted
the eye of legal experts as well as various social organizations. While a bizarre tactic,
this isn’t the first time that the state government of Kentucky has gone after online gambling.
An online gambling industry expert recently pointed out that this tactic is most likely being
used to force the online gambling operator out of business or severely limit their ability to
continue to accept bets within the state of Kentucky. Kentuckians should be asking the state
government why they aren’t attempting to recover losses incurred by Kentuckians at the various
horse racing tracks within Kentucky if they are genuinely concerned with gambling losses.
If Kentucky were to win this case, it would set a precedent that other jurisdictions may follow.
This would lead to governments being able to re-coop the losses that are incurred by its citizens,
and it could directly result in many of the top online gambling sites deciding to go offline.
