Happy Politicians, Online Gambling & The UIGEA

uigea bank deposits online gambling

June 1st has already passed us by and US gamblers are still able to make deposits at online gambling sites. Nothing has really changed in the online gambling world except that the US government has another law that they can reference when they go after processors that knowingly process online gambling deposits through banks within the United States.

The UIGEA was hyped up to be the nail in the coffin for the online gambling industry, but it’s just another Y2k. Their is alot of hype, alot of fear, and then nothing really happens. The only real changes are that it puts alot more stress on bank managers that need to find ways to monitor bank transactions and red flag those that involve any form of online gambling in the US.

Mastercard and Visa have already clamped down on processing any credit card or debit card deposits related to online gambling, but some players are reporting that they are still able to make deposits at some of the online casinos and poker rooms using a US debit card.

While the implementation of the UIGEA has made a few politicians happy, it’s going to end up being a ridiculous law that pushes the country even closer to licensed and regulated online gambling. The UIGEA will go down in history as the last attempt to silence US gamblers.
