Gambling Law in Finland Kills Poker Magazine

A poker magazine in Finland will cease publication this month due to the new Finnish gambling laws that offer an extreme position when it comes to advertising anything related to online gambling. Unfortunately, the new law will be implemented on September 1st and it goes to great length to strengthen the state-owned gambling monopoly. Any advertising within the country that promotes foreign gaming providers will be a criminal offense. This has created a problem for the poker magazine, Pokerisivut, because they will no longer be able to accept gaming ads.

Surprisingly, any foreign publications that are imported into the country are not covered under this law. Therefore, any gaming publication that moves to a neighboring country and distributes their magazine to Finnish citizens, will not need to worry about breaking any gambling laws.
