The Asian Poker Tour (APT) has announced that the 70 year old APT Philippines 2011 champion, Enrique Del Prado, Jr., will take part in the APT Philippines 2012 Main Event this month to reclaim his status as champion and the oldest winner of the Main Event.
In 2011, Del Prado snapped up the prestigious title from 231 hopefuls after defeating Hong Kong$s Elton Tsang in a tough battle along with the $179,260 purse.
Del Prado of the Philippines had an interesting rise to the top. Amazingly, he called down his opponents without hitting yet managed not to lose any big pot games he played in. He had a unique style and a way of confusing his opponents in hand after hand with his frequent snap-calls.
The Asian Poker Tour Philippines 2012 is set to commence on April 19th until April 25th at the Resorts World Manila’s Genting Club in Manila, Philippines. The Genting Club is an exclusive venue reserved for their members as well as Gold and Platinum RWM members. Buy-in for the main event stands at $2,700 USD. In addition to the main event, there are twelve side events scheduled including the satellites.
Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan were recently confirmed participants in this event.
