
The casino mogul, Stanley Ho, the father of Macau’s gambling industry
has been hospitalized in Hong Kong, according to local news reports.
The reports said that the 87 year old billionaire checked into the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital but their was no mention of why he was admitted. The Hong Kong’s Apple Daily newspaper featured photos of various family members visiting the hospital and they cited an unidentified source as saying that Stanley fell and hit his head last week and that he required brain surgery. The newspaper also mentioned that Ho is in stable condition within Adventist Hospital’s intensive care unit.
Stanley Ho is worth $9 billion according to Forbes magazine and he presided over Macau’s casino monopoly for over four decades which came to an end in 2002. He now owns approximately 30% of the gaming market in Macau with fierce competition from Wynn Resorts Ltd. and the Las Vegas Sands Corporation with casinos in Vegas.
