British Columbia Launching Online Casino in 2010

British Columbia, a province of Canada, is going to launch the first online casino within the country by 2010. The first online casino in Canada will be owned by the B.C. Lottery Corporation. “Rather than it all going to offshore places like Antigua, there’s an opportunity to keep it here in British Columbia,” said B.C. Lottery Corporation’s CEO, Michael Graydon. The online casino is expected to generate up to $100 million a year in revenue by the end of 2014.



The B.C. Lottery Corporation also announced that the maximum bet on their existing games would rise from $120 to $10,000. This move was likely made to allow high rollers to make large bets when the casino is officially launched in 2010. The launch of this online casino is nothing new for the online gaming community, except that it will be the first legal online casino to be launched anywhere within North America.



Rumor is that this new online casino will be launched in March of 2010. It’s sad to hear that the first online casino in North America will be in Canada, when the gambling capital of the world, Las Vegas, cannot even offer legal online gambling.
