Ladbrokes Poker, the leading online poker room for UK players, has announced that the latest member of their stable of poker professionals is Shane Lynch of the popular boy band, BoyZone. Shane will now represent Ladbrokes Poker and their UK team of poker professionals at live events like the World Poker Tour or World Series of Poker and within online tournaments.

It may seem odd to see a member of a boy band being recognized as a poker professional, but he’s not the first celebrity to be sponsored by an online poker room. A statement was released by Ladbrokes Poker shortly after announcing that Lynch was now a member of their poker team. The head of Ladbrokes Poker, Kate McLennan was quoted as saying: “Shane is the perfect ambassador for Ladbrokes Poker. He’s a great guy and totally down to earth.” She goes on to say, “We want to show that poker is for everyone. We’re not like other sites that spend huge amounts on poker professionals that their players will never be able to relate to. With Shane we want to show anyone can give it a go and have fun”. It will be interesting to see if Shane can play online poker as well as he could dance and sing as a member of Boyzone dance group.
