The news came this week that the Aussie Millions $100 000 Challenge has been taken down by reputable American poker pro Dan Smith, who earned himself the biggest career win to date by outplaying a host of big names, including Sam Trickett, Sorel Mizzi, Joe Hachem and Gus Hansen.

In the heads-up, Smith had to defeat Mikhail Smirnov, which brought him a hefty prize of A$1 012 000. Smirnov$s runner-up paycheck is also quite comforting, amounting to A$616 000.
