Anger Over Israel’s Ban On Internet Gambling

Anger seems to be brewing in Israel over the government’s attempt to censor the Internet by blocking access to certain online gambling sites. The growing concern among the local population is that the police raids, and ISP filters will soon be implemented in other sectors. It does seem like the offshore and underground gambling operators have been one step ahead of the Israeli government, and citizens continue to find ways to gamble online at their favorite online casinos.

Their is a growing fear that this will become a trend within Israel. If the government can effectively censor one activity, then they may find it to their advantage to censor other activities as well. Rumor is that this issue could be drawn into a political battle that may even escalate as far as the Israeli parliament if the government continues their aggressive crackdown on gambling.
