Anna Chapman is one of the ten individuals that were detained by US authorties and suspected of being a Russian spy. She was an Internet entrepreneur and she had sought out investors in Moscow to help fund an online poker room. She was exploiting her powerful connections in New York in order to feed classified information to members of the Russian government.

She made an attempt at starting a real estate business, and then decided to change her focus over to online poker. Online poker is illegal within Russia and it is illegal to operate an online poker room within the United States, so it remains unclear where she was going to run the online poker room once she was able to secure investors. The FBI said that she had flirted and be-friended national security personnel, Congressional insiders, military scientists and political fundraisers. It has also been said that the Russian government was seeking additional information on future plans of the Obama administration when it comes to global initiatives.
